A Perfect summer evening in Southwest michigan…
This day and this couple will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Whenever a couple entrusts me to plan their special day it is an honor and a privilege that I do not take lightly.
Even more so, when the couple entrusts me to plan their destination wedding (my first ever!) without ever having met me in person.
That is right, the first time I physically met bride, Meredith, and groom, Jared, was the day before their wedding.
If you know this sweet couple, though, then you know that putting their faith into a total stranger is not something completely outside their characters. They are truly two of the kindest people I have ever gotten to know, let alone work with.
I am so happy to report that this very deserving couple had an absolutely picture-perfect day. Despite some heat concerns earlier in the week, the weather completely turned around and it was the ideal Michigan summer Evening.
The event took place at the Hidden Vineyard Wedding Barn in Berrien Springs, MI. This rustic barn venue, unlike others of its type, is set on a hill that overlooks a stunning vineyard. It’s elegant and classic, while at the same time peaceful and comfortable. Exactly what the couple was looking for!
Meredith envisioned a day full of shades of purple and lilacs…a reminder of her childhood. After discovering that lilacs are not in season at the end of July, we found other ways to incorporate the bloom into the big day.
Aside from the overall vision and venue choice, the couple’s other wish list items included a top-tier photographer who would authentically capture their day and a DJ that would keep their friends and family dancing all night long.

One of my favorite parts of the couple’s big day was the menu! They opted for a less formal but more memorable taco bar, followed by ice cream from the Bride’s home town, and hot dogs for a late night snack!
It was an unforgettable summer evening full of shades of lilac, laughter, and love.
