Some weddings feel magical from the moment the vision begins to take shape, and Abby & Tyler’s December celebration at Hotel Carmichael in Carmel, Indiana was exactly that.
From the start, Abby shared that she loved the idea of a holiday-inspired wedding — but she didn’t want something that felt overly “Christmas.” Instead, she envisioned something romantic, elegant, and seasonal, with just the right touches of festive charm. Together, we leaned into a rich winter palette of merlot, burgundy, and evergreen, allowing the celebration to feel warm and inviting while still sophisticated and timeless.
One of my favorite parts of working with Abby & Tyler was how much joy they brought to the planning process. They were excited to incorporate unique details that felt personal and playful while still maintaining the refined atmosphere of the day.
Elegant Winter Design Details
Instead of a traditional red-and-green holiday palette, we opted for deep burgundy tones paired with evergreen accents, which felt perfectly suited to the elegant interiors of Hotel Carmichael. To add a sense of youth and energy for this vibrant couple, we incorporated bows and ribbons throughout the design, bringing softness and movement to the décor.
Florist Chrissy with Special Occasion Designs created arrangements that were both timeless and modern, blending rich winter tones with soft neutrals. The florals added warmth to the ceremony and reception spaces while complementing the venue’s classic architecture.
One design feature I particularly loved was the pillar arch ceremony setup — a layout I had not yet seen used at the venue. It created a beautiful focal point for Abby & Tyler’s vows while framing the elegant ballroom space perfectly.

Thoughtful Holiday Touches
While the design stayed refined, Abby also wanted to incorporate a few fun seasonal elements.
Guests were greeted by a Christmas tree seating chart, where escort cards were displayed like ornaments among the branches. It was a playful and creative moment that immediately set the tone for the celebration.
Abby also handmade ornament favors for guests — a personal touch that perfectly reflected the warmth and thoughtfulness of the day. Paired with subtle holiday-inspired signage, these details added festive charm without feeling over the top.

A Snowy Surprise
As if the day wasn’t already magical enough, Abby & Tyler were married during a blizzard — the kind of winter weather you dream about for a December wedding.
The snowfall created the most incredible backdrop for portraits, and photographer Rebecca Shehorn captured the moment beautifully. When I first saw the images of Abby & Tyler surrounded by falling snow, I genuinely gasped. The photos feel straight out of a winter fairytale.

The Sweetest Ending
To close out the evening, Abby & Tyler treated their guests to mini donuts and a coffee bar, which was the perfect cozy ending to a cold winter day.
It was such a fun and thoughtful way to wrap up the celebration — warm, inviting, and perfectly reflective of this joyful couple.

A Wedding Full of Warmth
Despite the winter weather outside, Abby & Tyler’s wedding day was filled with so much warmth, laughter, and love. From the romantic winter palette to the thoughtful seasonal touches and snowy portraits, every detail came together beautifully.
Designing and coordinating this celebration was such a joy, and I feel so grateful to have been part of such a special day for this incredible couple.
Abby & Tyler — thank you for trusting me with your vision. Your wedding was truly unforgettable.
